| Description | The Skills: A good IT degree, 2-3 yrs Embedded C and C++ experience (& design methodologies ie UML) within an Engineering environment using RTOS (ideally VxWorks/Nucleus), version control systems (ideally Visual Source Safe) & XML.
An appreciation & basic understanding of hardware design principles, knowledge of some/all of digital video & audio standards, video compression techniques, modulation/demodulation techniques, IP networking protocols & techniques (including TCP, SNMP, RTP, multicasting, routing) would be advantageous.
A background knowledge/understanding of video compression & digital broadcasting is beneficial.

The Role: Development & enhancement of embedded software, working closely with hardware & platform software engineers to produce system solutions. Design, coding, unit & integration testing activities to ensure that each assignment is completed to time & fulfils the original requirements specification. Undertake investigations & produce rapid solutions to customer problems on new & existing products. Ensure all stages of the product design life cycle are documented in accordance with company standards & methodologies.

ability to communicate clearly on technical matters in written reports as well as interpersonally with design groups & teams, & the ability to work with complex legacy code.
